Proofreading

Proofreading is the final editing stage and ensures that no minor mechanical errors, like typos, or stylistic inconsistencies, like the addition or omission of a serial comma, have made it through the cracks. After this final stage, your manuscript is ready for self-publication or submission.

What does proofreading cover?

As a manuscript’s final polish, proofreading examines your spelling, grammar, and usage. Though much of a manuscript is set in stone after the copy editing stage, a proofreader may also flag any remaining clarity or consistency issues.

Is your book ready for proofreading?

If your manuscript has already been thoroughly copy edited and no lingering developmental or stylistic issues remain, you are ready for proofreading.

How much does it cost?

I currently charge $20-25 CAD per 1,000 words, depending on the state of your manuscript. That means a standard novel of 60,000 words costs between $1,200 and $1,500.

If you are interested in working with me, please complete an estimate request and email the first 3 chapters of your book to senicamaltese@gmail.com. If you are inquiring about a picture book, short story, novella, or essay, please send the entire manuscript. To avoid confusion, I ask that you supply your sample within 72 hours of completing your estimate request.
